Mission and Values
The mission of the Latino Center of the Midlands is to enhance the lives of the Heartland Latino Community by supporting the education and development of our youth and adults; promoting comprehensive engagement of our families in all facets of their lives; and by fostering leadership through a variety of services and activities.

The Family and Community Well-Being (FCW) department focuses on nutrition, health, and the general well-being of the Latino Center of the Midlands’ stakeholders.
The Family Advocate (Program Assistant) assists the FCW department with stakeholder engagement strategies, identification of social barriers, case management, and program implementation. This position will serve as an advocate for the families served by fostering and providing support through the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Aids in navigating general services in the community to address social, emotional, economic, educational, legal, and basic survival needs (including referrals and case management).
Provides direct assistance to LCM stakeholders by completing and submitting forms, interpreting and/or translating documents, and establishing communication through the phone, email, and fax on behalf of the client.
Supports coordinator and director by scheduling, recruiting, and assisting during one-on-one consultations, group sessions, and community wide events.
Facilitates and co-leads family engagement strategies, including family and community evidence-based programs (e.g. Strengthening Families, Mental Health First Aid, etc.).
Develops and maintains relationships with community experts in social and human services (e.g. pantries, Omaha utility services, etc.).
Collects reporting data and organizes it within database system and other evaluation forms.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in social work, human services, public health or related field; OR two to three years related experience and/or training in such fields; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Proficiency:
Bilingual in Spanish and English is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.50 – $21.00 per hour
