Saving Lives Through Early Detection: Expanding Access to Mammograms in Our Community
For many women, preventive care often comes last, delayed by work schedules, family responsibilities, cost concerns, or uncertainty about where to go. But when it comes to breast cancer, timing matters. Mammograms play a critical role in detecting breast cancer early — when treatment options are most effective.
Yet for many women in our community, especially those facing language or financial barriers, routine screenings can feel out of reach. That’s why we partner with Methodist Health System’s Mobile 3D Mammography Clinic to bring free, accessible breast cancer screenings directly to our clients.
Since launching this partnership, 510 women in our community have received screenings through the mobile clinic. These visits not only provide screenings but also create educational opportunities—helping clients better understand breast health, recognize warning signs, and feel more confident navigating the healthcare system.
Early detection doesn’t just improve outcomes — it connects people to care when it matters most. Among those screened through the mobile clinic, 20 women were referred for follow-up care after findings that required additional evaluation. These referrals reflect the power of accessible screening: identifying concerns early, connecting patients to care quickly, and supporting them through the next steps of their health journey.
By bringing services directly to the community, we’re not only expanding access to lifesaving screenings but also strengthening trust and awareness around preventive care. Through partnerships like the Mobile Mammography Clinic, we are helping ensure that lifesaving screenings are no longer out of reach for the women in our community.
If you or someone you know is due for a mammogram, we encourage you to take the next step.
