The Latino Center of the Midlands is embarking on a $10 million renovation and expansion of its South Omaha headquarters. This transformative construction project marks a significant milestone in the Center’s history and reflects our ongoing commitment to meeting the growing needs of our community.

The updated facility will enhance our ability to deliver high-quality programs in education, workforce development, and community health, while creating a more welcoming and accessible space for all.

The Latino Center of the Midlands has outgrown its current space, and this renovation is a necessary step to meet the increasing demand for our services.

This expansion will allow us to:

• Better serve our clients with more space and resources
• Provide more comprehensive and integrated services
• Grow our programming to address the evolving needs of the South Omaha community

Ultimately, this project is about creating a space that reflects the dignity of our community and supports our long-term vision for equity, opportunity, and growth.

The project includes a complete renovation of our current headquarters and the full acquisition and integration of the adjacent FNBO building. Once completed, our total facility space will increase by 50% (Sqft.), allowing us to:

• Expand existing services and launch new programs
• Create dedicated spaces for community gatherings, workshops, and events
• Improve client access, navigation, and overall experience within the building

This investment will significantly enhance our ability to meet the growing needs of the South Omaha community.

The newly renovated facility will be thoughtfully designed to foster innovation, inclusion, and community connection. Key features will include:

• Expanded classrooms to support youth and adult education programs
• Flexible meeting and collaboration spaces for staff, partners, and clients
• Welcoming reception and gathering areas for community events and services
• Enhanced accessibility and modernized infrastructure to better serve the needs of our clients

This new space will reflect the dignity and vibrancy of the South Omaha community while supporting the Latino Center’s growing programs and services.

Demolition is scheduled to begin in May 2025, with full construction starting in August 2025. The renovation is expected to take approximately 18 months from the start of construction, with the newly renovated headquarters anticipated to be fully operational by January 2027.

During the renovation period, the Latino Center of the Midlands will temporarily relocate to its secondary location just one block south, at 4937 S 24th Street.

This temporary location ensures that the center’s programs and services continue without interruption while the main headquarters undergoes construction.
