Carolina and Daniel Padilla
Honorary Chairs
Carolina and Daniel Padilla are dedicated community leaders whose work has strengthened diverse communities across Nebraska. Originally from Guatemala City, they immigrated to the United States in 1993 with their three children, bringing a deep commitment to service, resilience, and opportunity. In Omaha, they found connection through the Latino Center of the Midlands, where they have remained actively involved.
Carolina is the founder of the Intercultural Senior Center (ISC), a nationally recognized organization serving immigrant and refugee seniors, welcoming over 100 individuals daily. Daniel spent more than 25 years in banking advancing financial inclusion and, in 2018, co-founded the Economic Empowerment Center DBA Lending Link to expand access to financial coaching and responsible lending.
Together, they exemplify a shared commitment to leadership and community empowerment, including Carolina’s volunteerism and Daniel’s years of service as Board President at the Latino Center. We are grateful to have them serve as Destino Honorary Chairs.

Dulce Sherman
Familia y Comunidad Awardee
Dulce Sherman is the Owner and Chief Executive Advisor of Sherman Executive Consulting, bringing more than 30 years of human resources leadership experience across the nonprofit and private sectors.
A first-generation Latina inspired by her immigrant parents from Mexico, she is a dedicated community leader with extensive nonprofit board service and volunteer experience, reflecting her lifelong commitment to serving others.
In recognition of her lasting impact and unwavering dedication to the community, the Latino Center of the Midlands is proud to honor Dulce with the 2026 Familia & Comunidad Award.
Esther Mejia | E Creative
Orgullo Empresarial Awardee
Esther Mejia is President and CEO of E Creative, an award-winning branding and communications strategy agency. Guided by her parents’ example of purpose-centered leadership, she founded one of the area’s first Latina-owned firms 15 years ago to serve organizations that strengthen our communities.
Driven to create meaningful impact, Esther finds joy in helping leaders and organizations discover what is possible and transform it into action.
In recognition of Esther’s entrepreneurial excellence and lasting impact, the Latino Center of the Midlands is proud to honor her with the 2026 Orgullo Empresarial Award.
Madison Perales
Emcee
Madison Perales joined KETV NewsWatch 7 in March 2025, bringing with her a passion for investigative journalism and a deep commitment to uplifting underrepresented voices—especially in South Omaha.
A proud graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees by 2024, leading impactful investigations that garnered national recognition and sparked real-world change.
The Latino Center of the Midlands is thrilled to welcome Madison as the emcee for Destino 2026. With her strong connection to community, storytelling expertise, and commitment to elevating local voices, Madison is the perfect host to guide us through an evening of celebration, inspiration, and comunidad.
Dos Mundos
Live Performance
The Latino Center of the Midlands is proud to announce a special live performance by Dos Mundos at this year’s Destino dinner.
Composed of Latino Center staff members Colton Schlines, Mahatma Largaespada, and Sebastian Chacon, the group blends a vibrant mix of Latin music styles to create a performance that celebrates culture, community, and connection.
