Attendance Awareness Month: How Pathway to Success Supports Students in our Community

When students regularly miss school, they risk falling behind in academics, disconnecting from peers, and losing sight of their goals. But with the right interventions such as goal setting, mentorship, and family engagement, students can succeed!

At Pathway to Success, we know that consistent attendance is one of the strongest predictors of academic achievement and future success. Our Attendance Program provides school-based support for middle and high school students, with Student Advocates embedded in schools to encourage personal and academic growth, respond quickly to challenges, and celebrate every success.

We work with students and families through:

  • Access to after-school and summer programming to keep learning and connection strong year-round.
  • Monthly personal and educational development workshops to build confidence, resilience, and life skills.
  • Career exploration, training, and job placement to connect students with real-world opportunities.
  • Referrals to school and community resources to address barriers like transportation, food access, and mental health.
  • Post-secondary planning and support, including FAFSA assistance, scholarship guidance, and job referrals.

In 2024, P2S Student Advocates supported 193 students and completed an impressive 7,652 interventions to help address attendance barriers and set personalized goals. Thanks to this dedicated support, 77% of high school seniors in the program graduated on time—a milestone worth celebrating!

Attendance Awareness Month is a time to reflect on the progress we’ve made, share success stories, and remind our community that attendance isn’t just about being present—it’s about being prepared for the future. Together, let’s ensure every student has the support they need to show up, stay engaged, and succeed!
