Supporting Workforce and Community Growth Through Adult Education

The new year is already bringing meaningful momentum! Across workplaces and classrooms, learning is underway—driven by strong partnerships that expand opportunity, strengthen the workforce, and reflect a shared belief in the value of education.

At the Latino Center of the Midlands, we are proud to partner with Hawkins through our Adult Education program to offer English Language Learning (ELL) classes that strengthen Nebraska’s workforce and the Omaha community.

These classes are already making a difference in day-to-day work. On the job, employees are finding their voice, sharing ideas freely, and strengthening connections with coworkers and supervisors. As language skills grow, so does a sense of belonging—creating workplaces where people feel seen, heard, and ready to contribute.

What makes this partnership especially powerful is how its impact carries outward. As employees gain tools that open doors to advancement and long-term opportunity, employers see a return on their investment through clearer communication that supports safer workplaces, stronger retention, and a positive reputation within the community. That same investment strengthens the Omaha community by helping anchor families, reinforce a skilled workforce, and support long-term economic and civic vitality.

As the year continues, the Latino Center remains focused on what drives this work forward: strong partnerships, shared responsibility, and education that creates lasting impact. Together with our partners, we are supporting a workforce that is prepared, connected, and positioned to grow—at work, at home, and throughout our community.
