When Curiosity Meets Opportunity: Siembra Nebraska Interns Step Into the Workplace
Most students can tell you what careers interest them.Fewer have the opportunity to see what those careers look like day to day.
This summer, a new cohort of Siembra Nebraska interns are moving beyond career exploration and into real-world experience. Across a growing network of host organizations, students are stepping into professional environments, working alongside industry leaders, and gaining firsthand insight into the careers they may one day pursue.
From healthcare and communications to agriculture and skilled trades, each placement offers a different perspective on what it takes to succeed. Interns are not simply observing—they are contributing to projects, learning workplace expectations, and building networks with professionals who can help guide their next steps.
The experience is especially valuable because it answers questions that cannot always be addressed in a classroom. What does a typical workday look like? What skills matter most? What challenges come with the job? What parts of the work are most rewarding?
By experiencing these environments firsthand, interns gain a clearer understanding of both their interests and their goals.
“Right now, I’m still exploring my career options.” said Emerson Tenorio, Siembra Medios Intern. “Siembra Nebraska has opened doors to paths I hadn’t even thought about, allowing me to see what I truly enjoy and what isn’t the right fit for me. It’s been a great way to discover my interests while picking up skills that will serve me anywhere!”
More than just a summer experience, each internship is an investment in the next generation of leaders. The skills, relationships, and confidence students gain will stay with them long after the program ends, shaping their futures and strengthening the communities they will one day lead.
